This isn’t the Scholastic Book Fair you remember because school isn’t what you remember. The answer to increasing gun violence in schools has become arming teachers and making schools shooter-proof. To expose the absurdity of accommodating for guns over enacting stricter gun laws, Scholastic is bulletproofing a beloved school memory.
Open to all ages of the public, the Bulletproof Book Fair takes place at a local school library in Washington, D.C.
We enlist and arm real teachers, including teacher influencers like Ms. Rachel and Mr. Duong, to be part of the Teacher Security Agency that guards the entire event.
All guests must go through the Teacher Security Agency checkpoints before entering. Each guest receives a bulletproof vest and helmet to safely roam the book fair.
Every book available for purchase has a bulletproof, Kevlar cover.
Other items available for purchase at the Bulletproof Book Fair include: Riot shield character cutouts, tourniquet kits, smoke bomb firecrackers to use in case of emergency, earmuffs and safety glasses, and kevlar folders.
To inform your vote and thank those running for office who make the Bulletproof Book Fair possible, the iconic Scholastic Book Fair Catalog has been transformed into a Bulletproof Book Fair Candidate Catalog.
To send candidates from the catalog a personal message, write a note or draw a picture for them in their designated bulletproof book. These bulletproof books will be sent to their respective candidates after the event.
